lost-and-found

he lost his jacket yesterday. and it was actually a really sad moment. he was going through his closet, looking for some sort of supply, and then stopped for a minute. and said it out loud.

"someone must've taken it!" he exclaimed, laughing.

he acted like he didn't really care. he said it, laughed it off, and quickly scampered off to the other side of the room, acting like he had something to do.

oh no. the laugh-off-let's-not-look-like-a-socially-awkward-monkey stance. the moment where your brain goes "shake it off!" so you don't look like an idiot. because no one wants to feel like that. my heart started to drop. i was running on about three hours of sleep but your emotions never turn off regardless of stress.

i continued to do my work, taking glances just to see if he seemed troubled or not.

he was. in a few minutes, he was at his closet, rummaging through poster paper, and boxes, trying to find his jacket. it was navy blue, slick, and it looked pretty dang cool. he was quick about it, and with no luck, he walked away.

and.. that was it.

i don't know if he ever found it.. or if that person ever returned it back.

i just hope it all worked out somehow.

and it wasn't even a matter of who took it -- it was just.. respect. but maybe that guy needed it. and maybe i had to see this moment. maybe it let me realize something.

it was just a jacket. he looked as if he wanted it desperately. that his comfort level suddenly was shattered. i wanted to give the guy a hug.

but i couldn't.

put yourself in those shoes. even though they are a bit, well, outdated.

i hope he'll get the jacket back. he seems to love it.
